Coastal cities may seem tricky for vegans, but if you’re heading to Barcelona, you’re in for a treat!
This vibrant city is a vegan paradise, offering plant-based options like vegan seafood, sushi, and even paella. No wonder Barcelona is ranked among HappyCow’s top 10 vegan-friendly cities for 2025!
During my 3-day visit, I only scratched the surface of the incredible vegan options here. Below, I’m sharing the vegan restaurants I tried in Barcelona that left me wishing for more time in this vegan food haven!
Check out this quick video of the best vegan restaurants in Barcelona before diving into the details.
Breakfast:
Cafe Equilibrium: If you’re looking for innovative, delicious, plant-based dishes, Equilibrium is the place to go. This vegan restaurant focuses on fresh local ingredients. Highly recommend trying the fresh juices and the chickpea omelette but everything was delicious.

The Vegan Corner: This quaint vegan cafe in the Gothic quarters serves sandwiches, pastries, and beverages. I got a focaccia sandwich and a chocolate tart to go. It did not disappoint. There’s also plenty of space to sit down and enjoy your food in the cafe as well.
Billy Brunch Barcelona: There are great vegan options at this quirky cafe that we found near our hotel. I had the English vegan breakfast which was very filling and my friend and I shared the vegan chocolate cake (divine btw!) If the weather is nice, opt for outside seating. We loved eating our brunch out there.
Brunch & Cake Esp: This brunch place seems to be quite popular and it has great vegan options. I had their vegan avocado toast which was everything but basic! Make sure to grab a reservation or go there early as it was packed the day we went.
Lunch & Dinner:
Roots & Rolls: If there’s anything you should know about me is that I love vegan sushi. This was one of my favorite vegan restaurant in Barcelona, everything was so delicious, so fresh, and unique, plus the service was superb. Their sushi sampler is a must!

Potstot: This is the restaurant to go for all the traditional Spanish dishes with a plant-based twist. You can find croquetas, tortillas, and even a selection of paellas. It’s gluten-free as well. Some of the best food I’ve eaten in my life and make sure to ask for that sangria as well!
Teresa Carles: This upscale vegetarian restaurant it’s famous for being one of the pioneers of plant-based dining in Barcelona. It puts emphasis on fresh ingredients and most dishes are already vegan (everything is labeled). I loved the food and the chill atmosphere, make sure to make a reservation as it’s very popular among tourists.
In the vlog, I went to Barceloneta Sangria Bar which was a vegan tapas bar in Barceloneta beach, unfortunately, this place seems to have closed as I can’t find any info about it anymore!
Those are all the places I went to during my 3-day trip to Barcelona. If you missed it, I also have a vegan guide to Madrid here.
Comment if you went to any of these places or if you have a recommendation of your own so we can help fellow vegans 🙂
